I think that as far as Saturdays go, this has been one of my most productive. Of course, as expected, the actual visible product of my productivity is close to nil. Oh well. At least I can feel like I got something done. Hopefully the library research that I did today will serve me well as I continue to write a paper and prepare for my upcoming "real" research.
I was thinking today about how I have adjusted to grad school so far. Last year was tough...it was a good wake up call telling me that I will not be able to survive on the study habits that I relied upon during my undergraduate years. And this year, a sharp kick in the butt told me that I will not be able to survive on the study habits that I relied upon last year. I truly hope that this trend does not continue. But for some goofy reason, I feel that I am hoping in vain.
A nice recent blessing-in-disguise was the cable company finally realizing that I was receiving a good number of channels for free. These included such wonderful time-wasters as Comedy Central and MTV. I had already tried to wean myself away from MTV (because it is the root of all evil), but the Comedy Central still remained a big temptation. So now they're gone, and I'm stuck with the major networks plus a couple religious and shopping stations. This will either prompt me to focus much more time on my studies, or help me to become more acquainted with oft underappreciated "free TV."

To stop a nosebleed, apply pressure. To start a nosebleed, apply even greater pressure in short, repeated bursts.
